After more than six years closed following the 2020 hailstorm, the heritage-listed University House reopened in August following a major restoration — just in time for ANU’s 80th anniversary. Now its much-loved Fellows Bar and Beer Garden are back, and we’re very happy to be making some noise there.

Join us outside at Fellows Bar for an evening of samba, percussion and big Brazilian rhythms on campus.

ABOUT RAIO DE SOL

Raio de Sol is Canberra’s community samba band — a loud, joyful and intergenerational percussion collective that has been bringing Brazilian rhythms to the streets, stages, festivals and unexpected corners of Canberra since 2012.

Drawing on the traditions of Brazilian samba and bloco percussion, Raio de Sol brings together musicians of different ages, backgrounds and levels of experience. More than just a band, we’re a community built around playing together, learning together and connecting people through rhythm.

From street parades and festivals to collaborations, workshops, university events and community celebrations, Raio de Sol is at its best when the drums are surrounded by people.
