About

University House is the collegial and ceremonial heart of the Australian National University.

Since 1954, University House has welcomed ANU staff, students and visitors, and members of the Canberra and wider communities – to meet, celebrate and stay – in an award-winning heritage building and gardens. University House is located on the ANU campus, adjacent to Canberra city and the capital’s cultural and political institutions.

University House is a Canberra and national icon, heritage-listed for its Mid-Century Modern design, bespoke furnishings, original artworks, and tranquil gardens. Following an extended closure after the 2020 Canberra hailstorm, University House is now fully renovated, restored, and reopened.

University House offers boutique hotel accommodation and graduate student rooms; a range of conference and meeting rooms; and cafe, bar, dining and social spaces. All are welcome at this unique and special place, where refined hospitality intersects with the cultural and intellectual life of Australia’s National University.
