Our next reading group will focus on Dipesh Chakrabarty’s’ The public life of history: an argument out of India’.
Some of the dilemmas anyone training to be a Historian must face are questions like of ‘what is History’ and ‘what happens when it moves beyond the cloistered halls of academia’. Chakrabarty’s nuanced analysis of such dilemmas seems to take the debate in some useful directions.
