  1. What’s on at the House – August 2018

Comments Off on What’s on at the House – August 2018

So much has been happening at University House, from reopening Boffins after a lengthy 6 months closure, to partnering with the Canberra Writers festival for the second time.

We are also very proud of our new partnership with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra as the recital partner for 2019.

For more information on the Canberra Writers festival and what events you can enjoy at University House, you can follow the below link to the festival home page or go onto our News and Events page with itemised event information.

We are also very proud to announce this years collaboration for the festivals pop up cafe and bar with Lark Hill Winery.

Lark Hill will be serving some of their amazing wines such as the Lark Hill ‘Roxanne’ Petillant Naturel, 2018 Lark Hill Shiraz and  2018 Lark Hill Pinot Gris.

If you were after something more hot, we will have you also covered with mulled wine, tea and coffee and plenty of hot food options.

As mentioned, in 2019 we will be the new home of the CSO recital series. the Canberra Symphony Orchestra has had a long standing relationship with University House and the ANU, in particular wit Llewellyn Hall being their concert home. It is only fitting to have the recitals for these concerts housed at our Great Hall. The dates for 2019 are:

Sunday, 31 March – Diana Doherty (Oboe)

Sunday, 16 June – Slava and Leonard Grigorian (Guitars)

Sunday, 18 August – Andrea Lam (Piano)

Sunday, 20 October – Umberto Clerici – Cello

The CSO has released their 2019 program and offers annual subscriptions to all their events. Visit: cso.org.au for more information and a subscription form.

And finally, if you have not had the chance to walk into Boffins since its reopening in July then you might want to plan a date night. Boffins having undergone a major refurbishment has had its doors closed for the first half of the year and is now shining in a new light. Some may say the Booth are a miss but they have given way to a stunning 16 seat private dining room and if privacy was of importance, the entire restaurant whilst opened up more and with full view of the kitchen, still provides the feeling of privacy and intimacy.
